Baldwin High School Class of 2023 celebrates post-graduation plans
Decision Day Ceremony recognizes students embarking on college, jobs and more after graduation
BALDWIN, Mich. — The entire Baldwin High School Class of 2023 has applied for and been accepted to at least one college — the latest example of the district’s commitment to providing a high-quality education that prepares all Panthers for success and careers. The Class of 2023 announced their post-graduation plans during this month’s Decision Day Ceremony at Baldwin Junior-Senior High School.
“Our Class of 2023 represents the engineers, skilled trades professionals, computer programmers, teachers and doctors of tomorrow,” said Brandon Childress, Promise Zone Coordinator. “I couldn’t be prouder of the decisions made by every member of our Class of 2023, each of whom has laid the groundwork for success while still in our hallways.”
The graduating class includes 18 students, all of whom have applied for and been accepted to at least one college. The Lake County Community Foundation granted a total $14,000 in scholarships to five graduating seniors during the event. The foundation, along with the Baldwin Promise Authority, provided free laptops to each graduating senior. The high school’s graduation is set for Friday, May 26, at the high school.
The event included a Candlelight Ceremony, in which the graduating seniors passed symbolic lit candles to the 23 juniors who will make up Baldwin’s Class of 2024. The audience also included current parents, families, the Baldwin Community Schools Board of Education, and Michigan Rep. Joseph D. Fox.
