These are unique times, even in educational athletics. As such, we feel it is necessary to update you on current practices.
Per the Michigan High School Athletic Association, student-athletes are allowed two spectators at events. We are going to ask our student-athletes to inform us of who those spectators are ahead of time, so we are able to be prepared at our gate, but also be able to prepare our opponents for road games. For West Michigan D League contests, we have three different tickets: red for volleyball, green for football, and yellow for cross country. Non-league games on the road may be different.
For example, for Saturday’s game at Merrill, we need to pre-send them our spectator list and they will check them off at the gate. The cost per spectator at Merrill will be $5 and they require exact payment and will not offer any money back. Furthermore, spectators are not allowed to leave once they enter. (PLEASE NOTE THAT THE GAME AGAINST MERRILL IS NOW SATURDAY AT 7 P.M.)
In order to expedite the process in these unique times, we are going to begin following some similar guidelines at home contests.
- Spectators must be on the list ahead of time in order to attend the game and they must have the game ticket or they will not be allowed in. Student-athletes have been given the tickets and should give the tickets to their spectators. Again, those game tickets are red for football, green for volleyball, and yellow for cross country.
Spectators must wear masks that cover their nose and mouth at all times and social distance if they are not with family members.
Spectators at home games will be expected to pay with exact cost. Adults are $4 and students are $2. Change will not be given. This is good practice for road games as well, as it limits the number of people who are handling cash.
Gates will open 45 minutes prior to the scheduled game time.
If a guest leaves, they will not be allowed to re-enter. We cannot make any exceptions to this.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation. These are the guidelines that we have to follow so we can play football. We are all in this together. Remember, we are doing this for our student-athletes.
